Motor City Machine Guns’ AEW Absence Has an Unexpected Explanation — Report
The Motor City Machine Guns’ stop-and-start run in AEW has raised questions since Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin officially joined the promotion. However, a new report suggests their recent absence isn’t tied to a creative issue. The reason comes from commitments made before their AEW arrival. Shelley and Sabin returned at All In 2026 and […] The post Motor City Machine Guns’ AEW Absence Has an Unexpected Explanation — Report appeared first on Wrestlezone.

This explains why the Motor City Machine Guns are missing from AEW
The Motor City Machine Guns’ run in AEW has been a huge disappointment up to this point, mostly because they’ve barely been on television. AEW officially announced that Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley are All Elite after their surprise appearance on the July 30 live episode of Collision in their hometown of Detroit. MCMG then disappeared from AEW programming for the build to August’s All In London pay-per-view. They did appear at Wembley Stadium in a post-match segment to confront AEW World Tag Team Champions Adam Copeland and Christian Cage. However, since then, Sabin and Shelley have only wrestled one match against low card guys, which took place on the Sept. 5 episode of Collision. They have not wrestled on Dynamite at all since signing with AEW, and it looks like Tony Khan’s creative has nothing planned for them at this month’s All Out pay-per-view. That begs the question, what the heck is going on here? Sean Ross Sapp answered that question on Fightful’s post-Dynamite podcast. “The

The free agent market is going crazy with ex-WWE stars just in time for AEW’s next PPV
GREENVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA - NOVEMBER 07: Aleister Black and Zelina look on during SmackDown at Bon Secours Wellness Arena on November 7, 2025 in Greenville, South Carolina. (Photo by Craig Melvin/WWE via Getty Images) | WWE via Getty Images This week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter provides a useful reminder for wrestling fans that the free agent market is about to go crazy in the middle of next week. That’s because WWE released a whole bunch of talented stars after WrestleMania 42, and many of those 90-day non compete clauses are ending next week. “These former WWE wrestlers become free agents at midnight on 7/23: Taylor Rotunda/Bo Dallas, 36, Joseph Ruby, 38, (Joe Gacy), Joseph Ruud, 44 (Erick Rowan), Samuel Shaw, 42 (Dexter Lumis), Tom Budgen, (Aleister Black), Thea Trinidad Budgen, 35 (Zelina Vega), Kairi Housako, 37 (Kairi Sane), Jorge Alcantar, 42 (Santos Escobar), Theresa Serrano, 32 (Zoey Stark), Chris Sabin, 44 and Patrick Martin, 43 (Alex Shelley).” It’s a loaded list of t

Motor City Machine Guns grieve over WWE release before accepting a new contract offer
The Motor City Machine Guns were released as part of WWE’s post-WrestleMania roster cuts, and will officially hit the free agent market in one week when the 90 day non compete clause is over. With that in mind, the 44-year-old Chris Sabin and 43-year-old Alex Shelley posted the following humorous video on YouTube today titled “Release.” They react to their WWE exit in the early part of the video by discussing the five stages of grief, before a box of new wrestling contracts lands in their laps. After dismissing offers from defunct promotions like Wrestle and Romance, they finally settle on the “Acceptance” stage of grief with the final contract, teasing they already know where they are heading next. The pro wrestling rumor mill has connected MCMG to AEW ever since WWE cut them, so maybe we’ll be seeing Sabin and Shelley pop up next at AEW’s Redemption pay-per-view on July 26 in Montreal. What’s your reaction to the Motor City Machine Guns’ video? Where do you think they will pop up
