Tony Khan is bringing in a mystery wrestler to challenge for AEW gold at All Out
AEW’s All Out pay-per-view takes place this Saturday night (Sept. 26) in Chicago. One new match was added to the card during tonight’s nearly 3.5 hour way-too-long go home edition of Dynamite and Collision. TBS Champion Persephone cut a backstage promo with Britt Baker during the long overrun accepting a tag team challenge from Hyan and Thunder Rosa for next week’s (Sept. 30) Dynamite in DMD’s hometown of Pittsburgh. Before that happens, though, Persephone wants to defend her TBS title in an Open Challenge at All Out. Anyone inside or outside of AEW is allowed to answer the call, except for Hyan and Rosa, of course. There’s never any time to waste when rumors await. Lead Rumor: WWE/TNA partnership talk It was just the other day that rumors had Dave Meltzer was speculating that WWE would be moving on from the partnership with TNA now that it’s become clear they won’t be opposing Dynamite on Wednesday nights and haven’t done much to hurt AEW. That was, apparently, the reason for the partnership from the beginning. Well, now that all the teams in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic have been announced and TNA is suspiciously absent from the field, folks are curious. To that end, WrestleVotes had some word on the situation. They say the partnership between WWE and TNA is not over but it’s definitely not as strong as it once was, and it’s simply not as important to NXT as it was even six months ago. Top rumor of the day: Kairi Sane’s future A lot of wrestling fans and analysts thought Kairi Sane might sign with AEW after she was released by WWE, yet the Pirate Princess remains a free agent. Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp heard from people in AEW who said the idea of Kairi signing there in time for last month’s All In event was “really never plausible,” even though she’s had talks with the promotion. There is apparently “nothing imminent” when it comes to Sane possibly signing with AEW. The direction where this “was supposed to go” is Kairi signing a dual contract with AEW and Stardom, and there is still “hope” that will happen.
