AEW’s latest MYSTERY star loses title match at All Out
TBS Champion Persephone is not a coward, so she issued an open challenge for (almost) anyone inside or outside of AEW to show up tonight (Sept. 26) at All Out and challenge for her belt. Lots of fans were hopeful that the mystery opponent would turn out to be former WWE star and current free agent Kairi Sane. Those folks will have to wait a bit longer for KAIRI to show up in AEW, because it was actually former TNA star Dani Luna making her AEW debut to answer the call. We made it to another weekend, this one with an event! Hell yeah. Let’s kick it off with rumors. Lead Rumor: TKO on WWE title changes Remember that talk of how not everyone was on board with Sami Zayn winning the WWE championship from CM Punk? That came from Dave Meltzer, and he has since doubled down on that maintaining that feelings regarding the switch were mixed. One thing he did want to clear up, however, is the fact that TKO isn’t worried about it either way. That’s because, as he put it in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, TKO “do not care about small things like who is the champion right now and they are into the bigger deals.” Apparently, no one has said a word about Zayn being champion right now because, again, that’s not really the part of the business they concern themselves with. Which pro wrestling company will sign free agent Kairi Sane? Let’s see what today’s rumors have to say about it! Top rumor of the day: Kairi Sane’s future A lot of wrestling fans and analysts thought Kairi Sane might sign with AEW after she was released by WWE, yet the Pirate Princess remains a free agent. Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp heard from people in AEW who said the idea of Kairi signing there in time for last month’s All In event was “really never plausible,” even though she’s had talks with the promotion. There is apparently “nothing imminent” when it comes to Sane possibly signing with AEW. The direction where this “was supposed to go” is Kairi signing a dual contract with AEW and Stardom, and there is still “hope” that will happen. Report: Kairi Sane in talks with AEW but no deal signed yet
Following WrestleMania 42, WWE underwent a drastic overhaul of its roster in the form of massive cuts to the talent pool. Aleister Black, Zelina Vega, Alba Fyre, the entirety of The Wyatt Sicks faction, and Kairi Sane were chief among them, the latter of which provoked quite a bit of discussion for how bewildering it was. When she finally spoke on it last month, she called it a huge shock, saying it was out of the blue for her just as much as anyone else. Naturally, in the wake of her release, talk quickly turned to how soon AEW would come calling. There was talk that a number of promotions reached out to her as soon as they were able, and she confirmed as much when she spoke out. AEW, presumably, was among them. Well, Fightful Select has now reported the two sides have engaged in discussions but she has not signed a contract just yet.
