Mason Rook may have just taken the next step in promo with Grayson Waller
Mason Rook isn’t new to this, he’s true to this. The artist formerly known as Will Kroos impressed the one and only John Cena before he ever signed a contract with WWE, and the company hasn’t been shy about making sure we know about it. There’s a reason for that — the big fella is pretty damn good at what he does. The 29-year-old from across the pond came in with a fun catchphrase and plenty of athletic ability despite his size. That’s the kind of thing that will get you over fast in a promotion like WWE. But he was still going to have to square up with stars who can talk him into the ground, and we needed to see if he could survive that kind of encounter. Did he ever. Grayson Waller came back down to NXT and instantly won the championship, all while calling out the entirety of the men’s division. It’s been just over two weeks since the top of the NXT card underwent a huge makeover. At Heatwave 16 days ago, five championships changed hands, drastically altering the developmental brand’s outlook as we head into the fall. Among those new champions was former WWE Tag Team Champion Grayson Waller. Shortly after returning to NXT, Grayson essentially talked himself into the NXT Title picture. After ruffling the right feathers and earning himself a spot in the Heatwave main event, Waller won the first singles title of his WWE career in Edinburg, Texas, three Sundays ago. As we all started feeling the Grayson Waller Effect, the time has come for the new champ to have his first #1 contender. Last week, Saquon Shugars, Tony D’Angelo, and Mason Rook won a 6-man tag team main event, qualifying the trio for a triple threat match to determine who gets the first crack at Grayson Waller.
