Swerve Strickland sees the bright side in WWE/AEW battle in Chicago
WWE riled some folks up when they booked Chicago to the very same night as AEW this weekend. The only reason to put Worlds Collide up against All Out was to try to hurt the promotion in terms of sales. Of course, it didn’t actually work out for them, as AEW sold out and WWE didn’t even broadcast its event, at least not live. In the aftermath of a successful show, one where he retained the AEW world championship by defeating Jon Moxley in the main event, Will Ospreay was feeling particularly tribal. He cut a promo on WWE at the post-show media scrum, outright telling them “do not ever fucking step to us ever again.” It’s a not entirely unfair response, considering it’s always been WWE coming at AEW and not necessarily the other way around, at least not in such a deliberately targeted manner. AEW All Out 2026 recap & reactions: Will Ospreay is the ace
There is a new ace in AEW. His name is Will Ospreay. The Aerial Assassin overcame the best Jon Moxley could dish out. All Out (Sep. 26, 2026) also featured the Young Bucks staking their case as the greatest tag team of all-time, Thekla earning a title shot, Hangman Page with crazy eyes for Swerve Strickland, the Brawling Birds living up to their name, Okada bringing the Rainmaker to PPV, and more from NOW Arena in Chicago, IL. Let’s break down All Out from top to bottom. Get full play-by-play from Claire Elizabeth. AEW World Championship: Will Ospreay (c) defeated Jon Moxley to retain the title. I’ll get the negative out of the way quickly. In my opinion, the Death Riders style of PPV main event stinks. There’s too many people running in. Will Ospreay feels like the f***ing champion. That was the money line to hype his world title defense against Jon Moxley for All Out. The go-home episode of Dynamite (Sep. 23, 2026) also featured Hangman Page picking at old scabs with Swerve Strickland, Adam Copeland delivering a conchairto, Darby Allin and Steven Borden high in the rafters, and more from Fishers Event Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. Tonight’s (Sept. 23) three hour episode of AEW Dynamite kicked off with Swerve Strickland and New Level defending the AEW world trios championship against Ricochet and Gates of Agony (aka The Demand).
