Issues in MLW & CMLL alliance appear to be smoothed over
A can of worms was opened when MLW booked Tessa Blanchard from CMLL, and it seemed like trouble was brewing in that interpromotional strategic alliance. It was never clear publicly what the issue was. Now, it seems that whatever happened behind the scenes to ruffle feathers has been smoothed over. MLW and CMLL often exchange talent in this partnership. MLW benefits more when showcasing star luchadores, such as Mistico, to sell tickets in markets that are eager for lucha libre. The alliance has been smooth sailing for a few years. Things appeared to get rocky for a minute when MLW secured the services of Blanchard. CMLL released a statement saying Blanchard was only booked for one date. Those plans ended up being canceled, and Blanchard did not appear in MLW. The next odd step was luchadores being deleted off the MLW website. Curiosity brewed from fans wondering what the heck was going on. Just as quickly as that kerfuffle occurred, things were getting back in place to calm any issues.

MLW finally gets the streaming deal it sued WWE over
When Court Bauer’s Major League Wrestling hit WWE with a federal anti-trust lawsuit in 2022, its case was based on media right deals with Vice TV and Fox-owned Tubi that MLW alleged it lost out on due to WWE’s “anti-competitive behavior”. That suit was settled for $20 million a couple years later, and we haven’t seen any signs of hostility between the two companies since, and no word of an official partnership like WWE has with TNA. But there have even been signs the old legal foes could be on the same side of our current and seemingly industry-wide wrestling war. Recently, those have included Baron Corbin’s run of double duty on Fusion and SmackDown, and the Tessa Blanchard flap that’s played out between Bauer’s fed and AEW-ally CMLL. And who knows if that has anything to do with MLW finally partnering up with Tubi. WWE does stream its developmental-for-developmental show Evolve on the service, but AEW’s FAST channel is on Tubi as well. Fusion also streams on AEW-ally New Japan’s NJPW

Tessa Blanchard mystery gets some clarity
Last week, Tessa Blanchard was excited to announce that she would debut in MLW for the Fightland event on September 12 in Charleston, South Carolina. Then, things got weird. Later in the week, CMLL released a statement stating that Blanchard was only scheduled for that one date with MLW. There were no future arrangements. The statement came across as an odd thing to say when there didn’t appear to be any chatter about this MLW appearance causing negative issues. After all, Blanchard is signed with CMLL, and CMLL has a strategic alliance with MLW to send wrestlers back and forth. Earlier this week, it appeared that MLW pulled the promotional material hyping Blanchard’s appearance. It still wasn’t clear what is going on. Now comes some clarity on the situation. CMLL announced that Blanchard will wrestle Starlight Kid on their Saturday show at Arena Coliseo in Mexico City on September 12.
