WWE NXT’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic: What to watch for in its 2026 return
One of the most newsworthy items from WWE programming this past week was the announcement that the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic is returning. This Tuesday on NXT, the 16-team tournament, originally created in 2015, will kick off its 11th iteration. Earlier this week, NXT GM Robert Stone went on Busted Open Radio and announced the first entrants: the NXT Tag Team Champions, Vanity Project, and the AAA Tag Team Champions, the Wagner Brothers. NXT announced six more teams, including multiple former champions, on their X account yesterday, and went right back and announced the complete field this morning. Rey Mysterio reveals WWE Worlds Collide full card with a surprise appearance
Worlds Collide is one week away on Saturday, August 26 from Chicago, IL. Rey Mysterio revealed the full card with talent from WWE, NXT, and AAA, and WWE is delivering a special appearance from Oba Femi. First entrants announced for WWE NXT’s Dusty Rhodes Classic tournament
The latest episode from WWE’s top developmental brand has received some pretty rough reviews, but it did offer some good news for fans of in-ring pro wrestling performances, and especially the sometimes-forgotten art of performing in tag team matches. The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic is back. The men’s tournament, anyway. That’s the one NXT General Manager Robert Stone was clearly talking about it when he announced the Dusty’s return last night (Sept. 15) on The CW. Stone said the tournament is part of his Heatwave promise to “enhance the tag team division”, a next step after bringing back former NXT Tag champs The Creed Brothers. Today, Stone was a guest on WWE Radio’s Busted Open, and revealed that the NXT and AAA Tag champs will anchor the 14-team Dusty field.
