What’s next for Penta in WWE after world title loss
We’ve heard nothing but good things about Penta in the wake of his loss to Roman Reigns in their world heavyweight championship match in the main event of Monday Night Raw in Mexico City last week. Reigns was fantastic in the match — with William Regal even suggesting folks study his tape from it to learn how to be better at that level — and Penta came away from it looking like a legitimate top level star in WWE. I’m not sure that was the case before it. William Regal with high praise for Roman Reigns’ performance on WWE Raw
He’s a fantastic performer himself, but William Regal has been more coach and mentor than pro wrestler for a while now. He’s on NXT these days, counseling his son Charlie Dempsey and the Birthright faction along with Fit Finlay (whose son Uriah Connors is in the group as well). But Regal’s main job at WWE is as a talent development executive — his second stint that department for the company. Point is, with the exception of a few diehard AEW fans (sickos, if you will) holding a grudge over Regal’s aborted Blackpool Combat Club run in Tony Khan’s company, Regal is very respected in the business. You might think of him as a professor of professional wrestling. So when Regal praises a performance as “masterful”, it’s worth talking about. Wrestling world pays tribute to ‘Superstar’ Bill Dundee
“Superstar” Bill Dundee passed in the early hours of Sunday (September 6) at the age of 82, his family announced. Dundee, who was born in Scotland and raised in Australia, was a legend in wrestling. His career will forever be associated with Jerry “The King” Lawler, who was at times a partner and other times a nemesis of Dundee for years. Though no cause of death has been announced, TMZ noted that his son previously disclosed “Superstar” had been battling dementia. Soon after news broke of Dundee’s passing, fellow wrestling stars paid tribute to the Memphis Wrestling Hall of Fame member. William Regal, who was managed by Dundee early in his career, posted on X (Twitter): “I’m sorry to hear of the passing of Bill Dundee. A lad born in Scotland who moved to Australia then came to the US and became a big star in the wrestling. We worked together when I first came here and he helped make my act work.
